Vauxhall Bridge

vauxhall bridge thames londonVauxhall Bridge links Pimlico to Vauxhall on the South Bank.  The original bridge on this site was named after the Prince Regent and was the first iron bridge to cross the river. It went up in 1809 but by 1879 was found to be in a dangerous condition. The present bridge replaced it in 1906.

The statues decorating the bridge piers on one side represent the arts, astronomy, education and government. On the other side you'll see engineering, agriculture, pottery and architecture.

Vauxhall Bridge also has a good view of Lambeth Bridge and the Houses of Parliament beyond.
